OpenCape Announces Appointment of Pete Saladino as Executive Director

Brings 20+ years of industry leadership to 

strategic 800 gigabit per second network upgrade and geographic expansion.

February 17, 2025 (Barnstable, MA) — OpenCape, the leading provider of ultra-fast fiber connectivity from Cape Cod to Southern New England, announced today that Pete Saladino has joined as Executive Director. 

A sales and marketing executive, with over 20 years’ experience scaling businesses from startups to Fortune 500 cCompanies, Saladino will be responsible for helming the innovative fiber optic network pioneer which recently announced a million-dollar hardware and software upgrade to double its bandwidth, making it one of the fastest commercially deployed networks in the world, spanning more than 700+ miles with robust connections into Boston and Providence. This investment in OpenCape’s state-of-the-art network provides a foundation for 4K video conferencing and symmetrical AI traffic loads, creating capacity for significant future growth. 

Last month, OpenCape was named 2025 Business of the Year by the Cape Cod Regional Chamber of Commerce for its critical role in fostering economic development with its resilient, community-focused fiber broadband infrastructure.

Saladino will be responsible for driving growth in new and existing customer relationships for OpenCape, which counts among its longtime customers some of the most prestigious institutions and top employers in the region including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Cape Cod 5, Southcoast Health, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and Joint Base Cape Cod. OpenCape’s recent expansion and network upgrades in New Bedford, Providence, Fall River, and Brockton provide a springboard for future growth.

Prior to joining OpenCape, Saladino served as the Global Head of Marketing for Skylo Technologies of Mountain View, California, where he was responsible for overseeing marketing, communications, thought leadership, and sales pipeline planning for the global satellite network service provider. He was instrumental in helping Skylo secure a CES Innovation Award 2026, a prestigious best-in-category GLOMO award at MWC Barcelona 2025, a Global Space Award, and Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies award. 

He is a sought-after speaker who has presented at industry events over the past year in Dubai, Paris, London, Shanghai, Seoul, New York, and Washington, D.C.  

Saladino’s experience includes serving as VP Demand Generation for Alumni Ventures in Boston, the largest venture capital firm for individual investors; Chief Marketing Officer for Hinckley Yachts in Portsmouth, Rhode Island; and Senior Director of Channel Marketing at Samsung Mobile in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. 

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in structural engineering from Cornell University.  At Cornell, he was captain of the co-ed dinghy sailing team.

Since 2023, he has served as a Board Member for the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound. 

Saladino takes over for Interim Executive Director Rob Bateman who will remain at OpenCape as its Chief Financial Officer, a position he has held since March 2024.
